Control Room A is the restored 1930s control room inside Battersea Power Station. It once directed around a fifth of London’s electricity. WilkinsonEyre restored it with Historic England, matching the original paint colours and recreating the dials on the control desks.
On camera, it works as a finished set. It is a long, symmetrical room lined with original switchboards and instrumentation. It has teak parquet floors, marble detailing and a gold-coffered glass ceiling. By day the ceiling lets in soft natural light, and in the evening the room turns warm and cinematic. The room reads cleanly from every angle and needs very little dressing.
Beyond the main room, the Directors’ Entrance, the original staircase and lift, and the Directors’ Bar under its large skylight give you a second, contemporary look within the same booking.
The venue is run by an experienced on-site team who are used to productions inside a protected interior. There is step-free access, back-of-house space for crew, and direct Underground access on the Northern line.
