Perched above the Seixe River, where Algarve meets Alentejo, Assomar is a unique riverside venue designed to host creative pop-ups, cultural events, culinary concepts, and community gatherings in one of the most scenic locations on Portugal’s southwest coast.

1. Space Description

Assomar is a cultural and gastronomic project created with the purpose of supporting creative dynamics in the region while providing a platform for artists, chefs, creators, and cultural promoters to develop and present their projects.

The space was intentionally designed to be flexible and adaptable, allowing it to host a wide range of pop-ups, artistic showcases, culinary events, workshops, markets, brand activations, and collaborative experiences.

Our goal is to create an environment where creativity, culture, gastronomy, and community can naturally come together.

Assomar operates daily as a restaurant and social venue, offering breakfast, brunch, lunch, lounge service, and dinner. Throughout the year we also curate a diverse program of weekend events such as art exhibitions, live music sessions, jam sessions, cultural gatherings, food markets, and community-driven initiatives.

Because of this dynamic programming, the venue is already well adapted to hosting temporary concepts and collaborative projects, making it a natural setting for pop-up experiences.

2. Location

Assomar is located in one of the most unique and scenic areas of southern Portugal.

The venue sits directly above the Seixe River, on the natural border between the Alentejo and Algarve regions, within the breathtaking Vicentina Coast Natural Park.

We are located:

- 2 km from Odeceixe Beach, considered one of the 7 Wonders of the Beaches of Portugal
- 1 km from the village of Odeceixe, one of the most sought-after destinations for tourism in southern Portugal
- Along the Fishermen’s Trail (Rota dos Pescadores), one of the most popular long-distance coastal hiking routes in Europe
- Surrounded by a landscape where the river valley, countryside and ocean meet

The location offers a truly special atmosphere, particularly during the late afternoon, when the space is bathed in warm light and the sunset unfolds over the river and surrounding valley.

This natural setting makes Assomar especially attractive for experiential events, creative retreats, culinary pop-ups, and community gatherings.

3. Indoor Area

The indoor area includes a bar with direct access to the kitchen and seating capacity for approximately 16 guests.

This intimate and comfortable setting is ideal for smaller gatherings such as workshops, tastings, private dinners, creative meetings, or presentations.

Indoor heating is available, allowing the space to remain welcoming during cooler months.

4. Outdoor Area

The main outdoor terrace overlooks the Seixe River and the village of Odeceixe, offering one of the most distinctive views in the region.

This terrace has direct access to the kitchen and can comfortably seat around 50 guests, making it ideal for dining events, gatherings, and social experiences.

Outdoor heating is available, ensuring comfort throughout different seasons.

In addition, the venue features a 200 m² elevated outdoor lounge area, specifically designed for events and creative programming. This space includes a dedicated bar and stage, making it perfectly suited for live music, DJ sets, talks, screenings, pop-up concepts, and cultural programming.

From this elevated lounge, guests enjoy a stunning panoramic view over the Seixe River and the surrounding valley landscape, creating a truly memorable setting for events.

5. Storage Space

Assomar includes two dedicated storage areas with generous capacity.

These spaces allow organizers to safely store materials, equipment, or supplies required for their events. Refrigerated storage is also available when needed, making the venue particularly suitable for culinary pop-ups and food-related concepts.

6. Decoration

The design of the space follows a simple and natural aesthetic that blends harmoniously with the surrounding landscape.

The decoration incorporates traditional visual elements typical of southern Portugal, creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that feels connected to the local environment.

At the same time, the venue was designed to be easily adaptable, allowing organizers to transform the setting according to the concept of their event.

The outdoor areas feature full LED lighting, allowing events to continue comfortably after sunset. A variety of plants are distributed throughout the indoor and outdoor spaces, reinforcing the natural and relaxed character of the venue.
